People Information

I added some neat information to 2 write ups. Under Isaac Oligny, you will find some cool information. I’ll just say that he fought against the U.S. Also, under Almeric Saurette, I posted a copy of his naturalization document from 1922.

I swear I wasn’t going to update things today. Funny how I keep getting drawn back to the site and the information.

I set up a template to finish the Saurette pages faster.

I even found a way of linking Thomas Jefferson to my site. For those of you who know me – that is pretty amusing.

Have a happy 4th of July everyone and drive safely.

New CDs

I received some new CDs from Heritage Quest on Friday, but I haven’t really had a lot of time to go thru them yet. They are from the 1910 U.S. Census. One CD is for the state of Massachusetts and the other CD has an index of Canadians in the 1910 census. I got the second CD just in case some of my ancestors lived in different parts of New England.

Today, I changed a few minor things on the main page to reflect the current state of the site and my information.

I hope to get to those CDs sometime this week and see what new information I can gather.

2 Marriage Certificates

Today I receieved my SASE back from the City Clerk of Holyoke, MA. They had a very fast turnaround time, since I mailed my info to them 7 days ago. It just goes to show that a nice letter and return postage goes a long way.

So now I have some Oligny marriage certificates. I am not posting my grandparent’s certificate online, but I have Joseph P. and Marie-Anna’s posted. The rest of my ancestors on this site were married in Canada – so that will be a next step – receiving marriage certs from Canada – that is something I have in the works. I mentioned that in an entry several days ago.

June has been a very good genealogy month, that’s for sure!

phpGedView Added to Site

I spent yesterday afternoon and evening working on a way to bring better viewing of records onto the site. I found a PHP program off of sourceforge that looked promising – called phpGedView. In short, I love the program. It is free, for one, but it does what it needs to do very quickly and easily. One of the best features is the ease of updating the online database. When, I’m done updating my files offline, all I have to do now is export my data as a GEDCOM file and upload it to the site. No more upload over 2000 files at a time.

It has been tested over my cable connection at home and also tested via a dial-up connection and the speed is great. Pedigree charts pop right up. So, if you visit the site, go on and dig in. As of today, the only way to access the phpGedView page is off of the main page. I am going to be redoing the site navigation later to add it and remove the old News & Info button – outdated material in there now that can be lost.

As always, comments and/or suggestins are most welcome for ways to improve the site and the information contained therein. Peace, out.
